Important COVID-19 information: Our ProgramsFAQsResources for families

Colorado

51 has been a part of the Colorado educational landscape since 2012, when Mile High United Way leveraged a federal Social Innovation Fund grant to help ensure more Colorado children could read proficiently by third grade.

Since then, we have paired thousands of community volunteers with kids to help them master basic reading skills and narrow their opportunity gap. Our one-on-one tutoring empowers students to succeed while simultaneously empowering volunteers to make a lasting difference in our community through individualized personal attention to each student in our program.

51 Colorado currently serves students in twelve schools. Visit our volunteer page to learn more about how you can become a reading partner.

Facing a school year of uncertainty in 2020-21, 51 collaborated with teachers and school leaders to meet students’ learning needs, including creating an innovative online tutoring program to support students when in-person tutoring is not an option. 51 continues to invest in strong family engagement programs, incorporating community voice, and race, equity, diversity, and inclusion-focused training for volunteers, staff, and AmeriCorps members to ensure that we are thoroughly supporting students and communities well into the future.
